Major Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

National leaders told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.
