The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Stories Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated. Platform Context The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
